World's Safest Banks 2009

For 18 years Global Finance has been publishing its "World's 50 Safest Banks" list.

The new list was just published on August 25th. Five of the fifty banks on the list are located in the US:

Bank of New York Mellon # 32
JP Morgan Chase # 39
Wells Fargo # 42
U.S. Bancorp # 47
Northern Trust # 49

According to the list the safest bank in the world is KfW in Germany.
